TxM 055 Section 6.5 Benefits of taxonomy software Created by James on 7/4/2013 1:15:28 PM
Following are the benefits which will result from use of the JAR&A software:
1. Senior users will be able to add additional line items into a taxonomy using a well trained staff member without needing external consultants.
2. Reduce the overall cost of developing, deploying and maintaining large taxonomies like the Item Master / Materials Master / Product Master and the Chart of Accounts.
3. Greatly improve the ability of own personnel to extend hierarchies to accommodate growth in the business with improved precision over manual techniques and reduced cost relative to bringing in a consultant.
4. Greatly reduce risk of degradation of hierarchies and code schemes with resultant increase in risk of making bad business decisions based on poor data – safeguard the investment.
5. Facilitate and enforce standards and allow narrow focus of responsibility for different people in different business areas to maintain codes in a way that does not adversely affect the rest of the business, reduce risk and reduce long term operating cost.
6. Codes built largely by the software ensuring consistent application of standards and improved sustainable quality.
7. Precision engineered strategic configuration coupled to strategic customization can deliver a threefold or greater improvement in performance from an ERP which is easily lost if hierarchies and / or code schemes degrade. The software greatly reduces the cost of maintenance and risk of degradation thereby improving overall reliability of reports, dashboards, models, etc.
8. Greatly reduces time and cost of master data configuration and maintenance of master data.
9. Greatly improves quality and reduces time and cost of mapping old codes onto new taxonomies.
10. Deliver many of the benefits of having James Robertson maintain the hierarchies himself at much lower cost and greater convenience.
11. Largely eliminate finicky and highly time consuming drudge repetitive work while building hierarchies and code schemes.
12. Facilitate much more complex code models like the cubic business model in the GL which because it is so abstract is very difficult to build and maintain manually.
Overall a necessary and cost effective adjunct to providing and maintaining sustainably and affordably high quality code schemes.
