Prd 004 What are the essential components of Precision Configuration -- Based on Precision Taxonomies? Created by James on 6/23/2013 9:12:16 AM
The following are the major components of Precision Configuration:
1. Accurately model the complexity of the REAL world in detail
Configure the software in such a way that the configuration accurately models the real world fundamentals and complexity of the business down to the finest detail such that executives and shareholders can look at the configuration and say “yes, that IS my business”
2. Founded on precision taxonomies
Strategic, engineered, precision taxonomies – hierarchical, logical, semantic (word) definitions of the business in accordance with JAR&A standards
3. Coupled to precision code schemes
Taxonomies coupled to precision code schemes that accurately reflect the semantic structure in alphanumeric, numeric or alpha codes that are logical and easy to learn and which comply with the rigorous standards defined by JAR&A and developed over 20 years
4. Comprehensive strategic attribute definition
User defined attributes, every characteristic that the business might ever use to describe a product, customer, machine, asset, project, etc
5. Intelligent hierarchical master file attribute setting
Master file attribute setting using intelligent cascading of parameters down the master hierarchy in order to ensure precise master record classification that draws on the full intelligence of the business specific taxonomies and strategic attributes
6. Precision software switch setting
Set-up the software switches such that the way the software functions, coupled to the precision configuration data exactly models the real world complexities of the business
7. Strategic functional business definition
A strategic level functional (macro activity) based approach to financial and other data that accurately creates a governance and management model leading to the empowerment and accountability of supervisors and managers at all levels leading to improved operational performance and efficiencies
8. Strategic customization
Clever strategic customization drawing on the precision configuration to fit the software solution to the business like a glove and open up opportunities to harness the functionality of other modules more effectively thereby opening competitive opportunities
9. Workflow and other automation
As an OUTPUT from all the above define business processes (workflow) and other software configuration at the operational level
10. Rigorous data quality
Rigorous approach to data quality including capitalization, spelling, abbreviations and other presentation considerations – able to drill down to the raw transaction data in reports and dashboards without embarrassment
11. Comprehensive pre-defined reports
Full suite of standard reports including a wide diversity of financial statements, product performance analysis, etc, etc – library of standard reports
12. Comprehensive business intelligence models
Data warehouse equipped with a range of general purpose models as well as highly advanced business specific economic models – the ability to fully understand the business and support for high value business decisions
A high value competitive information engine that allows the business to run to maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
